Clint Bowyer files multi-million dollar lawsuit against HScott Motorsports

It was the price he had to pay before succeeding the now retired Tony Stewart in the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet.

But it appears Bowyer isn't quite done with his former team just yet. According to a report from ESPN's Bob Pockrass, Bowyer is suing HScott Motorsports for upwards of $2.2 million dollars for a breach of contract and fraud.

Allegedly, the team, owned by Harry Scott, failed to make two monthly payments (Oct. 20th and Nov. 20th) and still owes Bowyer a commission for bringing five different sponsors to the team (5-Hour Energy, Maxwell House, Peak, Visine and AAA Insurance).

HScott Motorsports fielded two full-time entries during the 2016 season (No. 15 of Bowyer and No. 46 of Michael Annett) and holds the rights to a Charter, but is expected to cease operations and not return in 2017.

According to the ESPN report, Bowyer has accused the team of using the money owed to him to instead pay other creditors. 

Bowyer ended his dismal year in 27th in points and collected just three top ten finishes over the course of 36 races. His season-long average finish of 23.6 is also a career-worst for the 37-year-old driver.
