Darlington: Jamie McMurray preview

HAVOLINE TEAM FACTS:

* Chassis: The Havoline team will race chassis #206. This is the same car McMurray raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway two weeks ago.

* McMurray will be making his first NASCAR Winston Cup Series start at Darlington Raceway this weekend. He has four previous NASCAR Busch Series starts at Darlington Raceway with a best finish of 14th (Spring '01).

* McMurray has qualified in the top-10 in three of his four starts at Darlington Raceway in Busch Series competition. His worst qualifying effort has been 12th place.

* McMurray and the Havoline team come to Darlington 29th in NASCAR Winston Cup Series points and currently lead the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year standings.

JAMIE MCMURRAY QUOTES:

"Darlington is definitely a track that you have to give respect to," McMurray said. "There's a reason it's called 'The Track Too Tough to Tame.' Darlington's surface eats the tires very bad and you have to be patient and get your car to handle on the long runs at Darlington. The key is to just be around at the end and try not to get too many 'Darlington Stripes' on your car."

"I have a pretty good qualifying record at Darlington and if we can get the finishing position to match that, I'll be happy," McMurray added.

"Even though we've had a couple of bad weekends at Las Vegas and Atlanta, everyone on this Havoline team continues to be pumped up about the 2003 season and all the potential that exists within this team," McMurray said. "You have to approach each race as a new opportunity to have success and can't get bogged down on what happened last week. We're ready to try to tackle Darlington this weekend."
