Daytona Beach, FL -- David Reutimann, driver of the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, qualified 14th during Bud Pole qualifying this past Sunday. Even though David was the fastest Toyota on Sunday, he was one spot short of making it in on speed from Bud Pole qualifying, as three other non-point teams qualified ahead of him.
"I had a plan in my mind but unfortunately it did not go my way. We have a good car but I really wanted to put down a fast lap in qualifying, so I could sleep a little bit better," said David Reutimann after his qualifying run Sunday.
The #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota, driven by David Reutimann, will start 7th in the 2nd Duel 150 qualifying race tomorrow. There are two different scenarios' that could play out for David to make it in his first Daytona 500. First: David can race his way in by finishing 1st or 2nd out of the non-point teams in his Duel 150. Second: If one of the non-point drivers who qualified-in during Sunday's Bud Pole qualifying finish 1st or 2nd out of the non-point teams in either Duel then David will race in the Daytona 500.
"The Duel's are tough. During qualifying your out there all by yourself and nothing can happen, but the Duels put you beside 10 other drivers who are in the same situation and they may not be as patient as you." David Reutimann said.
Do not forget to follow the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota driven by David Reutimann tomorrow at 2:00 from Daytona International Speedway, as he attempts to make the field for his first Daytona 500.
