Daytona practice rained out, rescheduled
NASCAR cancelled both practices for the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday due to rain.
The Sprint Cup Series will have a 45-minute Happy Hour starting at 9:45 a.m. on Friday. Qualifying is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
Fourteen cars attempted to run laps in first practice prior to officials calling a caution four minutes into the session. With the threat of severe weather in the area, spotters were called off of the tower and only eight cars recorded times.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s 47.117-second lap topped the speed chart followed by Jamie McMurray, Kyle Larson, Aric Almirola, Paul Menard and Kurt Busch.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the defending winner of the Coke Zero 400. The race is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
