RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge)

NOTE: Wallace was second fastest in first Budweiser Shootout practice on Friday.

"The car ran really good in the first practice. That Dodge really sucked up good in the draft. I was impressed. I got about 40 car lengths behind the field and ran 'em and caught 'em. The car was flying, and once I got in the draft it really handled well. I ran the top, middle and bottom. I really anticipate the track getting tighter in the night session and so we're running some setups to get the car running lower on the track and turning better yet. I'm happy with what I've got right now. If I had to start the race right now, I'd be real confident. I'm getting greedy. I want to go faster yet.

"I was working with Ryan in the draft a little. It's my goal this year for all three teams to work together good. In order to take advantage of these three teams, we've got to be talking all the time. We're going to try to make that happen.

"I've told everybody the Shootout is a great race to be in because it lets you know what the car is going to be like in the 125s. If you've got a bad handling car in the 125s that won't run, it makes for a lousy starting spot in the 500, so I use the Bud Shootout to get right for the 125s."

RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge)

NOTE: Newman qualified for the Shootout by winning 11 poles last season, the most a driver had won since Bill Elliott won 11 since 1985.

"It would be nice (if the driver who won the most poles last season could win the Shootout), but we messed up and let some other drivers in there, too. It'll be tough competition, and we'll do the best job we can to win it. It's another opportunity for us to learn. It's more laps on the racetrack and more laps to figure out what kind of strategy might play out this year.

"We weren't fast in the first practice, but we're just feeling the car and track out. It's a good opportunity for us because it's the same Dodge we had here last year for the Shootout. We've made some changes, and I think we'll see more what tomorrow's race is going to be like in this last practice. You get shuffled around a lot out there in practice, so you take what you can and get what you can. So far, so good, but it's too early to tell yet. It's a chance to win another race, and that's what we're about all the time."
