Dodge dominates South Florida

MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2001) -- Dodge dominated today's qualifying session for the Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Taking the pole was Bill Elliott in the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge with a speed of 155.226 mph. Raybestos Rookie of the Year Casey Atwood in the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge took the second spot with John Andretti in the No. 43 Cheerios Dodge taking the third starting position. Today's pole was Elliott's second of the season, with his last pole coming in the Daytona 500.

Dodge claimed more than half of the top 10 spots with Sterling Marlin starting fifth, Jason Leffler starting seventh and Ward Burton starting tenth.

Jeff Gordon, who's in a position to clinch the championship on Sunday, will start 11th. His closest challenger, Ricky Rudd will start 4th.

Tickets for tomorrow's GNC Live Well 300 can be purchased at the gate, which opens at 8 a.m. Practice for the Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race starts at 10:30 a.m. The GNC Live Well 300 starts at 1:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NBC.
