(No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Fresh off his second victory of the season last Sunday at Lowe's Motor
Speedway, Marlin will race the same chassis that finished fifth earlier this
season at Martinsville. Marlin also used the same chassis at both Richmond
races with finishes of 11th and 32nd. Marlin's eighth career victory last
Sunday was his third straight top 10 finish. He has two wins, nine top fives
and 16 top 10 finishes this season and ranks fourth in the NASCAR Winston Cup
Standings
(NWCS). The 44-year-old driver from Columbia, Tenn., trails
third-place Tony Stewart by 44 points and series leader Jeff Gordon by 434
with seven races remaining. Marlin will make career start No. 533 on Sunday.
BILL ELLIOTT
(No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will drive the same Evernham Motorsports Dodge Intrepid R/T
chassis that finished 14th earlier this season at Martinsville. Elliott also
drove the same chassis in both Richmond races with finishes of 37th and 17th.
Elliott finished 15th last week at Charlotte and ranks 14th in the NWCS. He's
only 38 points behind 13th-place Jimmy Spencer. The 45-year-old 1988 NASCAR
Winston Cup champion from Dawsonville, Ga., will make career start No. 653 on
Sunday.
WARD BURTON
(No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton will race the Bill Davis Racing chassis that finished 12th earlier
this season at Richmond. Burton, a 39-year-old driver from South Boston, Va.,
finished third last week at Charlotte, his sixth top 10 finish in the past
seven starts at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Burton finished 22nd earlier this
season at Martinsville. Burton jumped four spots in the NWCS last week and is
ranked 16th heading into the 30th of 36 races on the 2001 schedule. Burton
will make career start No. 244 on Sunday.
DAVE BLANEY
(No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will drive his New Hampshire chassis at Martinsville. It finished
37th earlier this season at New Hampshire. Blaney finished 29th in the first
race this season at Martinsville and 41st last week at Charlotte. Ranked 25th
in the NWCS, the 36-year-old driver from Hartford, Ohio, will make career
start No. 69 on Sunday.
JOHN ANDRETTI
(No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will race his Darlington chassis at Martinsville. It finished
21st at Darlington. A former winner at Martinsville Speedway, Andretti
finished 35th earlier this season at the .526-mile track. He finished 26th
last week at Charlotte and ranks 29th in the NWCS. The 38-year-old driver
from Indianapolis, Ind., will make career start No. 256 on Sunday.
CASEY ATWOOD
(No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Atwood will drive the Evernham Motorsports Dodge Intrepid R/T chassis
that competed earlier this season at Martinsville, Loudon and both Richmond
races with finishes of 26th, 12th, 12th and 27th, respectively. The
21-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender from Nashville, Tenn.,
finished 24th last week at Charlotte. Atwood ranks 30th in the NWCS and third
in the Raybestos rookie competition.
STACY COMPTON
(No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton will race the same chassis that finished 42nd in the Pepsi
Southern 500 at Darlington. Compton finished 15th earlier this season at
Martinsville and 32nd last week at Charlotte. The 34-year-old driver from
Grit, Va., will make career start No. 60 on Sunday.
JASON LEFFLER
(No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler will compete in the chassis that finished 39th at Darlington in
the spring and 28th at Las Vegas. Leffler finished 43rd last week at
Charlotte. The 26-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender from Long
Beach, Calif., did not qualify at Martinsville earlier this season and will
be trying to qualify for his first Cup race at the .526-mile track. Leffler
ranks fifth in the Raybestos rookie standings and 37th in the NWCS.
BUCKSHOT JONES
(No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will drive his Bristol chassis at Martinsville. Jones finished 43rd
at Bristol and 38th earlier this season at Martinsville. The 31-year-old
driver from Tucker, Ga., will make his 41st career Cup start on Sunday. He
ranks 41st in the NWCS.
KYLE PETTY
(No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Petty will drive the Petty Enterprises chassis he finished 25th with at
Richmond. Petty finished 42nd earlier this season at Martinsville. He ranks
42nd in the NWCS and the 41-year-old driver from Randleman, N.C., will make
career start No. 604 on Sunday.
