DODGE CHARGER LUGNUTS -- Jeremy Mayfield, driver of the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger, posted the fastest lap in the first practice session Saturday morning at Dover International Speedway. Mayfield won both poles last season at DIS. "I'm happy with it," Mayfield said. "We weren't even trying to be fastest. I'm a little upset because we didn't get to qualify. I wanted to make it three in a row. We changed two shocks, and now we're putting the other ones back on. I think we're going to be in good shape.... Casey Mears, driver of the No. 41 Target Dodge Charger, will have to start in the rear of the field Sunday because his team changed engines after the first practice. "It was just tightening up, so we decided to put another one in," Team Manager Andy Graves said. "You're taking a chance starting in the back, but we'd rather do that than possibly not being able to finish the race...Rusty Wallace, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, swept both races at Dover in 1994. He'll be making his 43th career start at the Monster Mile on Sunday, and Wallace wouldn't mind if all pit stops came under caution. "I hate to make a green-flag pit stop these days," Wallace said. "It seems like every time we do the caution comes out and we get caught in the pits. It's just bad luck, but it's getting old."

CHIP GANASSI (Car owner Chip Ganassi with Felix Sabates Dodge Chargers)

COMMENT ON THE CUP SEASON SO FAR "I wouldn't say we're up to expectations. Our expectations are higher than what we're doing. We have a win still eluding us, and that hurts. We've had some small successes during the year we try to build upon, but we had a terrible weekend last week at Charlotte and we're still trying to recover from that."

YOU WERE ALL SMILES AFTER ALL THREE CARS FINISHED IN THE TOP FIVE AT TEXAS "We were tempered in our enthusiasm after that, but we still have to put the whole package together and we're not doing that right now from one end to the other. We can't make any mistakes, and we've got to think about what we're doing."

DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PERFECT DAY TO WIN? "I don't know that everything has to be perfect, but it has to be damn close. It's a competitive series. It speaks volumes about what's going on out here. You've got all these different teams and manufacturers and engines, different everything involved. For it to be this close and this competitive is why we're all here I guess."

DO THINGS RUN DIFFERENTLY AT INDY? "It's all about cars, engines, tires, drivers, mechanics and setups. It's all the same. It's about chemistry. We work on our

chemistry. We think that's an important part of it. I think we have more chemistry than we used to have."

DO YOU HAVE A HANDLE ON THE NEW DODGE CHARGER? "We're happy with where we are with it. We're happy with our balance, but until we have a win we're going to keep pushing it. We've got to lock our guys in The Chase. It's a little early yet, but we'll be halfway after Sunday. That's really hard to believe. We just want to get to the front. We've been to the front some, but we want to get there and stay there and celebrate in the winner's circle. That's what it's all about."
