Morgan Shephard has a one race sponsor
Morgan Shephard has a new one race sponsor. R&L Carriers, a large trucking company has signed on temporarily and Shephard hopes to move this beyond a one race deal.
Elliott follows Earnhardt's lead with BGN driver
After Earnhardt moving Steve Parks, his BGN driver, to run a limited WC schedule. It appears that Bill Elliott will do the same with Rin Barfield. He will attempt to qualify for 2 WC race, Pocono and the Brickyard. Barfield will leave the ARCA team and attempt to make most of the BGN races for the rest of the year. He also plans to run a full BGN schedule in 1998.
Dover plans seating increase
Dover has received the green light to increase there seating capacity. Earlier this month local officials said it would be o.k. to increase from 96,000 to 180,000 by the year 2004.
Geoff Bodine and QVC
It looks like the rumors were true about Geoff Bodine and QVC. Word is that Geoff Bodine has let QVC out of there contract. Word is that he will run bare quarterpanels in an attempt to lure a new sponsor.
Ford and the new Tarus
More rumors on Tarus testing. The latest rumor has Ford testing a new design at a test track in Naples, Florida.
Yarborough Sponsor troubles?
There is a rumor circulating that Cale Yarborough will not have RCA as a sponsor next year and that attempts to replace them have not been successful.
Earnhardt's driver has trouble at Pocono
An uncomfirmed rumor out of Pocono says that Steve Parks wrecked in a test session at the track on 5/28/97. Rumor is that he lost the car in turn 1. They expect to have another car ready for next weeks race.
Bobby Hamilton possible new driver for Washington-Irving
In there search for a new team, Washington-Irving shift there thoughts toward Bobby Hamilton. Inside sources rumor that there has already been a substancial offer made.
No more Joe Camel?
In the wake of the recent government campaign against Joe Camel, word comes to NASCAR Fans that RJR has agreed to drop the advertisement. This should mean a paint scheme change for the 23 car.
Terry Labonte fined in BGN race at Charlotte
Driver Terry Labonte was fined $2,000 by NASCAR on Thursday for rough driving following Saturday's Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Labonte's actions were deemed detrimental to auto racing. He finished 11th and won about $6,000.
