Bristol Motor Speedway is the sight of "M&M's"® Racing Team driver Ernie Irvan's first career NASCAR Winston Cup victory. Irvan made his first victory lap in the series in the fall of 1990.

In addition to his win at Bristol Motor Speedway, Irvan also had another career first at the .5-mile facility. Irvan's first career Winston Cup pole position came at Bristol in only his fourth year of competition in the series. Irvan first led the field to the green flag in the spring of 1990, then followed up that performance by capturing his second pole position at the track in the fall of 1992.

Irvan's start at Bristol Motor Speedway will be his 299th career Winston Cup start. With a successful run in the No. 36 "M&M's"® Pontiac under his belt at Bristol this weekend, Irvan will head to Martinsville Speedway for his milestone 300th career start on April 18.

Irvan will sign autographs at Food City Family Race Night from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 8. The event will take place at the Kingsport (Tenn.) Meadowview Convention Center.

Ernie Irvan's thoughts on racing at Bristol Motor Speedway... "Naturally, Bristol is a special place to run because it is where I won my first Winston Cup race. I've also had a lot of good runs there in the past and the "M&M's"® Racing Team wants to build on that. But we haven't had as many good runs lately as we would like.

"Our plan is to go to Bristol and get the "M&M's"® Pontiac qualified on the first day to avoid having to pit on the backstretch."
