Fontana II: Robby Gordon qualifying report

The Home-Town Boy Qualifies 25th at Fontana

FONTANA, CALIF. (September 1, 2006) -- Robby Gordon and the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will start mid-pack on Sunday for the Sony HD 500 from California Speedway. Completing his qualifying lap with a time of 40.008 seconds (179.964 mph) on the 2-mile D-shaped oval, Gordon was only able to muster a XX starting position.

"The car ran fine on our qualifying run," said Gordon. "We just didn't pick up the time that everyone else did. We have to figure where the problem is and fix it and start getting our shot at the pole.

"Our qualifying draws have not been that great lately and we finally got one today that was in our favor and were not able to capitalize on it. We will find out where we are going wrong, fix it, and start getting our shot at the pole and getting into the Bud Shootout next year."
