REED SORENSON (NO. 43 Charter Communications Dodge Charger)

RECAP YOUR TOP-10 FINISH IN THE DAYTONA 500 AND YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT RACING HERE AT AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY? "Like Kasey said, this is the start of the season right here to see how our cars are and what we have. Not being able to test over the winter at places we race at such as here, Vegas and all those places, it's kind of different for me coming into a new team with a new crew chief and new guys to work with. The first practice today will be the first time working together on a track where we can be compared to the competition. We did all we could over the winter trying to get ready. We'll see where we stand, but this is kind of like the beginning of the season to see what we have. We have our communication level pretty good between me and my crew chief. Hopefully, we can work through this weekend and get a nice solid finish."

A LOT HAS BEEN WRITTEN THIS WEEK ABOUT RICHARD PETTY MOTORSPORTS; IS THERE A SENSE OF THINGS BEING DIFFERENT WITH RICHARD THERE? "I haven't been here that long obviously, but everybody on the team seems really motivated, whether it's the drivers, crew chiefs or guys working on the cars at the shop. Having Richard around just adds to the level of excitement for everybody that's part of the team. Richard has already given me some advice this morning. He told me to be calm. As simple as that sounds, that's actually pretty good advice because everybody is real tense coming in here and excited to see how fast we're going to be. He's fun to have around and always has some good advice."

IS THERE ANY SORT OF COMPETITION WITHIN THE TEAM? "Not that I know. We're trying to work as a team to compete against the other 39 cars out there. I think we're working together really well. I haven't seen that. Actually, what happened at the start of the year was a little hectic, but I think everything has settled down now and I don't' seen any competition between the teams. We always try to work together. I think you could see that at Daytona where Elliott made sacrifices in the 150. He was up in the front and got out of the pack to go back and help AJ and make sure he got in the race. We seem to be working well together and our objective is to get all four cars to run well."

YOU REFERRED TO SPEAKING WITH THE KING (RICHARD PETTY); HOW DID THAT COME ABOUT? "I was by the car this morning and he was there. He's always around the 43 car it seems like. He's always in our trailer during practice. He's on top of our trailer or on somebody's trailer watching what's going on."

HOW MUCH ARE YOU LOOKIING FORWARD TO GETTING TO VEGAS, ATLANTA...SEEING HOW YOUR MILE-AND-HALF PROGRAM IS? "If you can run good here, it definitely gives you confidence going into Vegas even though the tracks are a lot different. Usually, if you can run good at a place like this, you can carry over a little of what you learned here to the mile-and-half tracks. Even Vegas is a lot different from Atlanta because of the tire we use and how old the asphalt is at Atlanta compared to Vegas. All three are different as far as what you need out of the car to be fast, but you can definitely learn stuff from one track to another. The next three weeks, we can learn what we need in that off week to see what we need to be better."

ARE YOU GETTING SUPPORT FROM YOUR TEAMMATES THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN MISSING IN THE PAST? "I think so, definitely. Kasey is the leader of our team and we depend on him. With Elliott and AJ, this is probably better (support) than I've ever had and hopefully can use as the year goes on. I think the teamwork is definitely going to be an advantage for our team. Where I was before...David (Stremme) was there and he left, Juan (Pablo Montoya) came in, Casey (Mears) was there and left, Sterling (Marlin) left and Jamie left. It was like a revolving door over there with different teammates. We were all good friends, but it was hard to use all of us together to have teamwork as far as getting all the teams together and figure out how to get fast. I feel like the teamwork here is going to be great."
