Changes on the No. 31 Cingular Wireless Chevy: Well, everyone was expecting a driver change, but instead crew member shifts were announced for Robby Gordon's team. Kevin Almquist will take over car chief duties this week for the No. 31 team, and Gil Martin will 'co-crew chief' with Chris Andrews for the next several races in an attempt to get the team back on track.

Glover new crew chief of the No. 40: Lee McCall has moved to a new position at Ganassi Racing, overseeing all three teams, and Tony Glover has taken over as crew chief for Sterling Marlin.

Crew chief changes on the No. 15 Chevy: Word is that Pete Rondeau will take over crew chief duties of the No. 15 Chevy from Slugger Labbe, possibly starting this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Its official: Not much of a surprise, but as reported Jason Leffler has been named full time driver of the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Chevrolet sponsored by Federal Express beginning next season.

Feese to No. 5? With the announcement that Kyle Busch would inherit the seat of Terry Labonte in the Cup series for Hendrick Motorsports, it is expected that Sprint Car driver Blake Feese will take over Busch's seat in the Busch Series.

Bliss out. Hamlin in?: With Mike Bliss leaving the No. 20 Gibbs Busch ride that opens the door for late model driver Denny Hamlin to step into Busch series racing next season.

Big field to attempt to make Busch race: Fifty-eight cars will attempt to qualify for the SpongeBob Square Pant Movie 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The huge grid of hopefuls marks the largest number of racers to try and make the field of a Busch event this season.

Bliss/Stewart scuffle will not bring penalties by NASCAR: NASCAR will not penalize an incident between Mike Bliss and Tony Stewart last weekend at Kansas Speedway. Apparently, in the team hauler post race Bliss and Stewart engaged in a heated disagreement about an on track incident.

Both racers drive for Joe Gibbs Racing. NASCAR commented that they would not get involved and let it be an internal matter for Gibbs.

Chase competitors pace initial practice: Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman and Elliott Sadler paced the field during the first practice session for Cup teams, with Busch and Newman being the only two cars to break the 186 mph mark.
