Tire Codes: Left - D-5692; Right - D-5704
Tire Circumference: Left - 86.2 in.; Right - 87.4 in.
Technical Inspection Inflation: Left Front - 15 psi; Left Rear - 15 psi; Right Front - 25 psi; Right Rear - 25 psi
Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front - 11 psi; Left Rear - 11 psi; Right Front - 22 psi; Right Rear - 21 psi
Estimated Pit Window: Every 150-160 laps, based on fuel mileage.
Notes: This is the same combination of left- and right-side tires Goodyear has brought to Martinsville since April 2001 . . . both the NASCAR Winston Cup and Truck Series will compete on the same tire set-up this weekend . . . Martinsville is the only track where Winston Cup teams will use this specific tire combination, though this right-side tire (D-5704) will be used on all four tire positions at both Sears Point and Watkins Glen . . . truck series teams also used this combination earlier this season at both Mesa Marin and South Boston. . . because Martinsville is an oval of less than one mile in length, teams will not run inner liners this weekend.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "This being Goodyear's short track tire set-up, these are the softest left- and right-side tires we will run in 2003. Martinsville is just a tick over a half-mile in length and has extremely tight turns and very little banking, and that ultimately leads to a relatively low amount of downforce. Because of that, softer tires are necessary to give cars additional grip."
