RAIN WASHES OUT SATURDAY NIGHT RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 16, 2001 . . . Heavy rain throughout the day forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to cancel the True Value Hardware sponsored night of NASCAR stock car racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. "We did have heavy rain most of the day. And we kept checking the local weather agencies and our weather computer, there was no indication of any break. In fact the forecast for Saturday night was even worse. We just felt it best to cancel and let our racers and fans get out and do other things. Enjoy Father's Day," said Rogers. NASCAR stock car racing returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. with Deka Batteries sponsoring the night of modified and late model competition. The first 500 fans through the main gate will receive a beautiful checkered flag. And Deka Batteries will have additional prizes for fans in the stands. The battle for the championships is at the midway point with Craig VonDohren, the Mrs T's Pierogies entry, setting the pace with 2097 points in the NASCAR Modifieds. Second place is held by Meme DeSantis with 1987. Interesting is the fact that VonDohren has two wins and Meme has not been able to crack victory lane. Doug Manmiller is at 1819 to hold third spot. In the NASCAR Late Models former champion Lou Egrie of Philadelphia as he looks for his second champion. Egrie has 1705 points. Dean Stoudt, four time and defending champion, has 1676 while third is held by Rick Todorow, Mr. Auto Body, from Quakertown with 1630 counts. On Sunday, June 24, 7:30 p.m. the CARQUEST PA Speedweek Series, featuring 410 sprints and KARS 358 sprints, will take place. An autograph session is set for 5:30 p.m. Raindate is Monday, June 25, 7:30 p.m. Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown, in Bechtelsville, PA.
