Gilliland Armed with New Resources for Indy
Taco Bell Team Takes New Car, Test Data

Statesville, N.C. (July 20, 2010) - David Gilliland and the No. 38 Taco Bell Ford team head to Indianapolis (Ind.) Motor Speedway this week with resources to start the season's second half with confidence. The team will take a new Ford Fusion to the historic track for the Brickyard 400 and will be armed with information gained from an April Goodyear tire test at the speedway. The chassis is the first built completely by Front Row Motorsports.

Gilliland has three previous starts at the 2.5-mile flat oval. His top finish at IMS is 17th.

Comments from Taco Bell driver David Gilliland on Indianapolis Motor Speedway, his midseason assessment and the 2011 schedule:

"I think the first half of our season went well. We were making good progress up until about three or four weeks ago when we kind of stalled out. But we've been working really hard to try to get some better cars. In fact, at Indy, we're going to have a brand new car for us. So I'm excited about that. (Crew chief) Randy Seals and the guys have been working hard to make our program better and to keep all three Front Row cars in the top 35.

"With my family being in racing, I grew up watching on TV the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500. Those are basically two of the biggest events in racing. So to be able to go to the Brickyard and race there is a big deal. There's so much history there. It's a unique track, different than anything else we race on. When anybody asks me where they should go to watch a race, just to experience a track, I tell them to go to Indy.

"As for the actual racing on the track, I like it a lot. I'm really excited to take a new car there this week. Hopefully that will be the step we need to be more competitive. We were part of the tire test there (in April) and that went really well. I felt like we learned a lot. So I have a lot of confidence going to Indy, and I know Randy and our whole 38 team does.

"I think it's good that NASCAR mixes up the schedule every once in a while. As a competitor, sometimes we go to races and we don't see as many fans in the stands as we or NASCAR would like to see. So, I think NASCAR needs to be able to move on the fly and adjust the schedule and do whatever we need to do for the race fans."
