JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (11TH):

HOW WAS YOUR QUALIFYING RUN?

"It was alright. It was okay. It was just slipping and sliding up on the track. The temperatures are so high and I think the guys that went early were in better shape than we were. We expected to run maybe a 49.60 or a 49.70 and we ran a '90.' We did pick up, but I was doing some sliding. We were the only ones that picked up in a while, so that was good, I guess. We'll just deal with it and get it race-ready."

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (1ST):

ON YOUR QUALIFYING LAP

"I knew it was a good lap. I just didn't know how good. That's definitely the best it's driven all weekend, for sure.

"We've struggled all year, which is no secret. We've just had a tough year this year. But, to go out and do what we did there, that was what this Home Depot Pontiac team needed, for sure.

"The hardest thing about this racetrack is that you can make big gains or little gains, and nobody really knew what was going to happen this morning, as compared to practicing yesterday afternoon when the track was really hot and slippery. But, the conditions are definitely better today than what they were yesterday. It was just a matter of knowing how hard you could go. I was either going to put a really good lap down or I was going to have a really bad lap because I was going to have to check up. The good thing was that on the 'out lap' the car stuck really good. I knew that we had to get it done in one lap. A couple of the corners I never even lifted all the way out of the throttle, so it was almost like driving an Indy car. I didn't think you could drive a stock car down in there like that."
