Brooklyn, MI (July 18, 2002) --Dale Jarrett put his No. 88 Robert Yates Ford in victory lane after a hot afternoon and after an early spin on lap 12 in turn four. Jarrett's No. 88 was sent spinning through the infield grass after the Dodge of Jeremy Mayfield took the air off of the spoiler. Jarrett and crew regrouped and charged hard to score his second victory of the season, the 30th of his career.
"It's a great day. It was 11 years ago today that I visited this victory lane for the first time in my Winston Cup career and I'm very proud of that and very proud of these guys for fighting and staying after this."

Under Jarrett's last pit stop of the day, he and his Todd Parrott led crew decided to take on four rather than two tires. "A lot of times we get criticized for getting four sometimes, but I think that's probably won us more races than its lost us," the race winner said.
Other teams took on different pit strategies to get a shot at the win, but fell short. Third place finisher, Harvick, got fuel only when Jarrett took on four. Under the final caution flag, Jarrett stayed out while Harvick dipped his No. 29 back on to pit road and took on fresh tires. "We took a gamble there to try and win the race. That 88 car was awfully strong. We took a gamble and missed."
The race had seven caution flags, the first of which was brought out by Jarrett's spin. The yellow flew again on lap 142 for an accident in turn four involving the cars of Steve Park and Jerry Nadeau. The final caution was brought out on lap 186 after Derrike Cope hit the wall in turn three.
Joe Gibbs Racing's Tony Stewart finished second and after leading the most laps, 42, Richard Childress Racing's Kevin Harvick, grabbed the third spot. After seeing their teammate Kurt Busch lose an engine, Roush Racing's Jeff Burton and Mark Martin grabbed the fourth and fifth spots.
Points leader Sterling Marlin in the Ganassi owned entry finished sixth. Hendrick Motorsports' Jimmie Johnson was the highest finishing rookie after Penske's Ryan Newman yet again had engine problems. Johnson finished seventh. Entering the race the race this weekend, Newman had five straight top fives.
Johnny Benson, driving for MB2 finished eighth in his No. 10 Pontiac. Harvick's teammate Jeff Green finished ninth and pole sitter, DEI's Dale Earnhardt Jr. closed out the top 10.
