LOUDON, N.H. – Three-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon is looking to remain the only winner of the 300-mile fall event at New Hampshire International Speedway. New Hampshire had one Winston Cup race per season until 1997 when they acquired an additional Winston Cup date. Gordon is the two-time, two-consecutive and only winner of that event, looking for number...three. "There must be something about running at New Hampshire at that time of year," said Gordon. "We've been able to hit on the setup for both fall races. Hopefully, we'll be able to keep up the consistency that we've had here over the last couple of years." Consistency is right. His finishing record is one, three, one, three, in the DuPont Automotive Finishes Chevrolet over the past four events at New Hampshire, with the two fall race victories and the third-place finishes in the last two spring events, for an average finish of 2.0. Gordon also won here in 1995. Additionally, Gordon has started on the front row in the last three races at New Hampshire. He sat on the pole in the last two events here and started second in the spring of ‘98. In addition to three wins and two poles at the 1.058-mile oval, Gordon has achieved five top-five and six top-10's for an average finish of 12.4. He has led laps in all but one of those events and has led the most laps three times. Gordon's quest this Sunday? Three-for-three.
