Joey Logano tops final practice at Phoenix

Joey Logano posted the fastest lap in final practice — 134.736mph for Sunday’s Camping World 500.

Logano’s single-lap run was 0.043-seconds faster than Matt Kenseth (134.519mph). Kyle Busch (134.399mph), Brad Keselowski (134.384mph) and Jimmie Johnson (134.368mph) rounded out the top five speeds in Happy Hour.

After 32 drivers took to the one-mile track in the first five minutes, Matt Kenseth set the early pace with a lap of 134.591mph. Logano, the polesitter — and the 33rd driver out in final practice — jumped to the top of the speed chart with a lap of 134.736mph.

At the 10-minute mark, Daniel Suarez lost control of the No. 19 Toyota coming off of Turn 2 when the right front tire went down.

“I got tight-loose in traffic,” said Suarez who was 18th on the speed chart after 19 laps.

Logano was still had the fastest car in single lap runs followed by Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson, Erik Jones, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr. and Jamie McMurray as the track went under caution.

The top 10 speeds didn’t change at the halfway point. Logano still led after completing 14 laps. At the end of the session, close to the same time as the start of tomorrow’s race, the temperature was 85-degrees.

Jimmie Johnson’s 60 laps were the most completed in the session.

Thirty-two drivers posted 10 consecutive lap averages with Kyle Busch leading the category with a speed of 134.094mph followed by Johnson (133.687mph), Kenseth(133.663mph), Keselowski (133.562mph) and Truex (133.196mph). Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne, Elliott and McMurray rounded out the top 10.
