Jimmie Johnson started the second Duel from the first position and ended up finishing there, beating out JGR drivers Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards. The race came down to the wire and temperes flared post-race.

"To have the week we have had with the front row being secured, the wins tonight, it has been a great start to Speedweeks," said Johnson after the victory. "I just have to say thank you to everybody at Hendrick Motorsports for their hard work. Thank you to my great sponsor Lowe’s."

"This is our 14th season together. I just wish my family was here, wish my girls were here. They will be here tomorrow. Just a fun day, what a race car, this thing is bad fast.  Looking forward to Sunday’s race.”

The 60-lap sprint race came down to a GWC that saw Johnson hold his own as Kurt Busch dropped to the rear to pick up teammate Danica Patrick, pushing her through the pack and into the Daytona 500.

Greg Biffle, Martin Truex Jr., Ryan Blaney, Reed Sorenson, Mike Wallace, Justin Allgaier, Patrick, KuBusch, Gilliland, Ragan, and ADillon all raced their way into the 500. Brian Scott, Jeb Burton, Alex Bowman, and Josh Wise all failed to make the race.

Bobby Labonte will start last, taking the past champion's provisional to make the show.
