Kurt Busch will start tomorrow's Tropicana 400 from the back of the field after the engine of his No. 97 Rubbermaid Taurus let go during Saturday's practice. Busch had qualified second.

KURT BUSCH-97-Rubbermaid Taurus-WHAT HAPPENED? "It blowed up."

DID IT GIVE ANY WARNING?

"No warning whatsoever. I stood on the throttle in the middle of three and four, and the spotter said, 'There's a little bit of smoke,' and I looked up in the mirror to check the trace of smoke, and by the time I looked forward there was so much smoke in the car I couldn't see where I was going. So, I was lucky that we didn't demolish the car and have to pull out the backup car. Here at Roush Racing we're really good at starting in the back."

IN TERMS OF GETTING TO THE FRONT, STARTING AT THE BACK NOW DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AS MUCH OF A PROBLEM AS IT WAS JUST A FEW YEARS AGO.

"Not at Chicago. It's a one-groove race track; it's going to be tough to get to the front. There's going to be a lot of wrecks. We qualified second, that's where we need to be. But we're dealing with what we've got for an engine program."

Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 60 Grainger Taurus in the NASCAR Busch Series, will have the same primary sponsor when he moves up to Winston Cup in 2003. The car's number, though, will change to 16. Biffle and team owner Jack Roush spoke to the media Saturday.
