MIKE SKINNER, NO. 4 KODAK CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"The car just got a little bit loose on us. But this is a good race car this week. I think they brought a really nice body on it. It's got a good engine in it and hopefully it'll race better than it qualified."
TERRY LABONTE, NO. 5 KELLOGG'S CHEVOLET MONTE CARLO:
"That's really about what we practiced. We bottomed out a little bit on the first lap and on the second lap I eased off a little early to get in the corner and it didn't bottom out. That's how we picked up a little bit. It was still a pretty good run for us and be a pretty decent starting spot."
JOE NEMECHEK, NO. 25 UAW/DELPHI CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"We've actually lost a little bit of grip there but we'll take it. It's going to be a pretty decent starting spot and we're going to have a pretty awesome race car."
DALE EARNHARDT JR., NO. 8 BUDWEISER CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: That was a great lap for us. The car was awesome. I'm really proud of my team. Tony Eury and Tony Jr. did a great job on the car. During practice they kept making changes and kept improving it. I'm real proud of the Bud team. There's a lot of good race car drivers out there but you don't get many really good race cars. It all depends on what the guys do in the shop and they did their work today."
BOTH LAPS ON THE BOTTOM? "Yeah, both on the bottom. The car was good on the bottom. It was a little bit tight. But that's what made me able to drive it."
MICHAEL WALTRIP, NO. 15 NAPA CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"We have a good car. It just didn't quite stick like it needed to when we went to qualify. You just have to go for it - throw it out there and hope it sticks in order to get a pole. I went for it and it didn't stick. Slugger and the guys really did a nice job with the car. We just didn't quite improve it enough to have a chance to get one. That's disappointing because you don't have that many opportunities to get one. Today we had a chance but we just capitalize on it.
ARE THE SET-UPS ON THE BUSCH CAR LIKE THE CUP CAR? "I'm real fortunate Bobby Kennedy (crew chief) on the Busch car and Slugger (crew chief) work really well together. They talk about set-ups and the cars were actually similar. Both of them were a little too tight."
ON THE DEI TEAM EFFORT: "We have a great team effort. We don't have any egos on our team. I certainly don't have an ego any more after going 18 years without a win. We just go out there and together. We can play off each other."
DID YOU NOTICE ANYTHING DIFFERENT ABOUT DALE JR. AFTER HIS CONCUSSION? "No. I don't know. I've hit the wall hard before. I wouldn't have told that."
ROBBY GORDON, NO. 31 CINGULAR WIRELESS CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"It was an okay run. It thought we'd be a little bit better. We ran an .80 in practice. The car bottomed out and the guys went to work on it. We bottomed out again in qualifying. We should have been somewhere in the .20's. The team did a good job for me. We're working on different set-ups. We think we'll be good on race day."
JACK SPRAGUE, NO. 60 HAAS CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"The first lap was so good, but I just tried way too hard on the second lap and got it shoved up in the middle of (turns) three and four. We've got a good car this weekend, and we'll be fine."
JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DUPONT CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"I thought we'd run a lot better than that. We ran in the .60's in practice and I thought we'd pick it up from there. The car was pretty well balanced. I just couldn't get back on the gas as hard as I wanted to I guess, up off the corner. We're just going to keep working on the qualifying deal and this is certainly better than last week. The car feels good and the motor feels great. This is a place that we've got good notes from so I think we'll be pretty good in the race."
