Kurt Busch grabs pole at The Glen

Kurt Busch grabbed the pole for NASCAR's second and last road course race of the season. Busch's lap of 122.966 mph dusted the field on speed to earn his him third pole of the year and sixth of his career.

"It feels incredible to see some of my past races on road courses not turn out alright, maybe now we will have some more luck on Sunday," said Busch.

Kasey Kahne was second quickest with a lap of 121.845 mph.

"I was really fast getting through the center of the corners then back off them and just loose off the corners," said Kahne. "I mean for one lap you can do it like that but that won't work in the race."

Ryan Newman, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson complete the top five.

"It was pretty slick for me," said Johnson. "I think it will get better as the temperature goes down, but I feel really good about that lap."

Notably, Greg Biffle crashed on his time trial lap and smacked the wall, "Got loose through the S's, it's been pretty loose since we got on the track." He will have to start from the rear of the field for Sunday's road course race in a back up car.
