The expected news was semi-confirmed this morning (August 7) that Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and Kyle Busch have signed an agreement, moving the younger of the two NASCAR Nextel Cup Series drivers to the team many believed he would fit in with best.

Busch is a bit feisty and young, and he also speaks his mind, much like the reigning champion Tony Stewart (JGR). Rumors were rampant yesterday, that the official announcement will be made in a few weeks' time at the headquarters for what will be Busch's new team. Yet to be confirmed is the departure of J.J. Yeley who is in his final contract year with JCR.

Busch was looking for a ride when Dale Earnhardt Jr. signed with Hendrick Motorsports, taking the seat next year that belonged to Busch. Even with race wins and Bud Poles, Busch never seem to fit into the mold with the Rick Hendrick-owned team. A fact that reared its ugly race shortly after the signing of Earnhardt Jr.

On the weekend that he had his best shot at scoring his second win of the season, he was nipped at the wire by Jamie McMurray at the July Daytona event. Busch lost his fifth career Cup victory by five one-thousandth of a second. A fact that did not please the Las Vegas native with two teammates close at hand on the superspeedway, ".just didn't have help from the teammates tonight but our Kellogg's/CARQUEST Chevrolet was pretty fast and it had to be the best Hendrick car out there."

At Pocono this past weekend, Busch nearly knocked his older brother Kurt Busch off the pole which later was grabbed by Earnhardt Jr. The two brothers were both smiling at how close the gap between them was, 0.025 seconds. While Kurt went on to win the race in his Penske Racing Dodge, Kyle was back in 12th in his Chevrolet.

He remains with a Chevy team with the move to JGR and he brings to the table, four career Cup wins thus far in his third year as a full-season driver in the Cup series. Busch has notched two poles in the series, still searching for the elusive one this season.

At this time, he is running with the ASA Midwest Tour group at their race late-model race in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He nor the team have commented on the yet to be official news at this time.

Busch's new teammates should be Denny Hamlin and Stewart. Hamlin, who was the first rookie to make the Chase cut last year sits second in the current standings, adrift of Busch's current teammate Jeff Gordon by 266 points. Stewart is fifth in the standings while Busch lays in eight place.

With the merger of teams and the musical chairs, 2008 may bring more than a new name to the top NASCAR series.
