Skinner and the Kodak MAX Film Crew ready to gamble at Vegas

Mike Skinner and the Kodak MAX Film Racing crew just completed a two-day test session at Atlanta Motor Speedway before traveling west to Las Vegas. The Morgan-McClure No. 4 Monte Carlo turned the fastest lap of the day at 29.57 seconds or 187.487 mph.

Skinner, accompanied by his wife Angela, left Atlanta to fly to Vegas for a few extra days of fun. Then it will back to business behind the wheel on Friday morning with the first Winston Cup practice session taking place at 10:20 a.m.

Mike Skinner, driver of the No, 4 Kodak MAX film Monte Carlo quotes: "The car felt good during the Atlanta test. It handled good. Scott (Eggleston) and I communicated really well with one another. This is an excellent opportunity to become better acquainted. The more we are able to work together at a race track, the better we will be able to relay the attitude and adjustments of the car. We keep pounding things out trying to get better. The team is looking forward to going back there in a few weeks to compete.

"Obviously, the one-engine rule played a factor in our engine quitting with only 30 laps to go in the race at Rockingham. I am a fan of the one-engine deal. Everyone's engine program has to step up in order to accommodate the change. If we had not practiced as much on Friday, we might have been able to finish the race. We would have had a pretty decent points finish instead of dropping ten positions.

"The team cannot change its strategies. We go to the track each week to qualify well and race competitive for wins. My job is to go out and drive the car to the best of my abilities and keep the fenders on it until the end of the race. Scott's job is to fix the car and keep it so I can drive it. The guys in the engine shop are the ones who have to take a different approach. They are doing that. Larry (McClure) and Runt (Pittman) and all of those guys in the engine room are working hard at trying to come up with something that will adapt to this new rule.

"I love Vegas. It is a great place to host a Winston Cup event. There is so much excitement and electricity in the city. My wife, Angela, and I fly out a few days early to enjoy the atmosphere. I golf and she visits a spa and shops a little. We go to one of the many great restaurants to choose from. Then we try our luck at gambling some. It is an awesome time.

"I've run well on the track. I had success there in the NASCAR Truck Series and in Winston Cup. Things are looking up. We keep trying to improve each week. We are going to roll the dice and hopefully come up with a winner."
