Target Team Facts:

Loudon: Casey Mears has four starts at the New England track in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. His best finish at the 1.058-mile track was 16th, which he accomplished in the July race of 2003. Mears battled a tight car in the last two races at Loudon which relegated him to 26th and 29th-place finishes.

Testing: Mears and the Target team tested at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Monday and Tuesday in preparation for the Brickyard 400 on August 7th. Mears captured the pole at a record-setting speed of 186.293 mph at IMS last season. Mears' Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates teammate Jamie McMurray tested at Indianapolis also.

Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target team will compete with chassis #502 in Loudon this weekend. The team has run this chassis twice this season, at Phoenix International Raceway and Richmond International Raceway.

Standings: Casey Mears and the Target team moved up three spots in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup championship standing to 25th after their ninth-place finish at Chicagoland. It was the team's first top-10 effort since Texas in April.

Casey Mears Quote:

On Loudon... "Last weekend was really encouraging," said Mears. "While it wasn't a perfect race, everything went very smoothly and we came home with a solid top-10 finish. The goal for us now is to be consistent, and put together a string of top-10 finishes."

"My first year in Cup we ran really well at Loudon, in fact it was one of our best tracks. Last year we struggled and couldn't get a handle on the Target Dodge. But we've had some really positive runs over the past three weeks, so I'm encouraged heading into Loudon this weekend. We have a good opportunity to show what this team is made of in the next month with tracks like Loudon, Pocono, Indy and Watkins Glen."
