Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 303 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. Built new in 2010, Bowyer drove this Chevrolet Impala to a seventh-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.
markers outside the coveted top 12, heading into the Race to the Chase, the 10-race stretch before the 12-man Chase for the Sprint Cup field is set. In 2009, Brian Vickers sat 123 markers outside of the top 12 as the Race to the Chase began and raced his way into Chase contention.
CLINT BOWYER:
You won at New Hampshire in 2007. Have good finishes been hard to come by at Loudon since that victory?
"Absolutely, but it seems like we've had a lot of bad luck there. We were running well there last year and got punted on a restart, which ruined our day. It's still a good race track for us. I'd love to go back there and run well. I don't know if we could ever run as well as we did back in 2007, but I think it's a track we can win at."
Is your New Hampshire win one of your biggest Cup Series highlights?
"Definitely, but it seems like we haven't had a good run since then. We need to make sure we get out of there this time with a solid finish. Last year, like I said, we were in the money and just got taken out of it at the end."
Did the rain play a major factor in last year's run at Loudon?
"We lost some track position because of the rain, but we were still running inside the top 10. We just got punted there heading into turn three."
Is New Hampshire a track you circle before you begin your season?
"We definitely circle this one. You always look forward to going back to a track that you've won, because you know you have done it before and you can do it again."
Is New Hampshire like a big Martinsville?
"A little bit, but not really. It's a track of its own. We've tried to test for Loudon at places like Milwaukee and some others. Maybe the guys can get some data there, but for me, and my pick-up points while driving, it's different than any where. I like it though. It's a fun place to go. It's a beautiful part of the country and a fun track to race at."
Joey Logano has won there on rain strategy. Does a rain win count as a win in your book?
"Joey has been doing a good job since he's started. It doesn't matter how you win these races. We've seen fuel mileage victories and we've seen a four-time champion win with a little bit of luck at times. Joey Logano having a little bit of luck involved with that win doesn't matter. There have been other times that he, or others, should have won and didn't. It's no different than anybody else."
