New Hampshire International Speedway News and Notes
* Blaney's No. 22 Camry...The Caterpillar Racing team plans to use Chassis No. 19 this weekend at New Hampshire International Speedway. This is the same car with which Dave Blaney earned the pole position the last time the series traveled to the Loudon, N.H. track in July.
* Blaney's Career Stats...Blaney hopes to make his 260th career NASCAR Nextel Cup Series start when the green flag waves Sunday afternoon. He made his first career Cup Series start in October 1992 at [Rockingham] North Carolina Speedway and drove his Bill Davis Racing-owned entry to a 40th-place finish (qualified 34th) in his first Cup Series start at the 1.058-mile track in Loudon.
* Blaney at NHIS...Blaney has made 15 starts on the 1.058-mile oval during his Cup Series career, starting as high as first (2007) and finishing as high as ninth. He has scored five top-15 finishes in Cup Series competition at the New Hampshire track. Blaney has competed in a Bill Davis Racing entry at New Hampshire International Speedway eight times.
* BDR at NHIS...Competitors driving Bill Davis Racing-owned cars have been racing at the track since 1993 and have made 36 starts. Those drivers have posted one top-five finish and four top-10 finishes, including a victory in 2002.
* Tommy's Truckin'...Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin will spend an extra day atop the pit box this weekend, as he leads BDR's fourth Craftsman Truck Series entry for the running of the New Hampshire 200. Donny Lia, a 28-year-old standout on the Whelen Modified Tour, will pilot the No. 36 machine for which Baldwin will call the shots.
Dave Blaney's thoughts on Loudon..."We worked hard to get back in the top 35 a couple of weeks ago, and then fell out after Bristol by just a few points. We knew all we would have to do is go out and not beat ourselves, and we'd get back into the top 35, and that's exactly what has happened for the last two weeks, first with the engine issues in Fontana and then getting involved in that wreck last weekend in Richmond. It's very disappointing, but lucky for us, the team we're chasing hasn't been able to really capitalize on our misfortunes, so we still have a good shot at getting back into that top 35 this week. We had a great qualifying run last time we were in New Hampshire but missed on the race setup a bit, so I know Tommy's [Baldwin] going to come back with something a little bit different this time around.
"Honestly, with 10 races left, I can't believe we're sitting here fighting for a spot in the top 35 because this Caterpillar team has run so much better than that so many times. Tommy has done a great job of bringing good cars to the track every week, but we've just had so many problems either finishing races at all or finishing them in one piece. Obviously, that's what we'll concentrate on in these last 10 races. It'll be a fight to the finish between our team and the No. 21 team, and with just a little bit of luck, we're confident we can come out on top."
