REUTIMANN AND BURGER KING® TOYOTA CAMRY TEAM CONTINUE TO MAKE PROGRESS
LOUDON, N.H. (September 10, 2007) -- Fresh off his career-best NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series finish, David Reutimann returns to New Hampshire International Speedway looking to collect his first top-10 finish in the No. 00 BURGER KING® Toyota Camry during the Sylvania 300.
"We feel really good about the way we've been running these past couple weeks and we are ready for New Hampshire," said Reutimann, who finished 13th at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night. "We had a car capable of finishing in the top-10 at Richmond and at California and that shows we are making progress each week. The BURGER KING® Toyota Camry team has been doing great and we're focused on continuing to improve. Our goal is to finish in the top-10 this weekend."
Reutimann has faired well at the 1.058-mile oval and has recorded one top-five and one top-10 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finish as well as a top-10 NASCAR Busch Series finish. If it had not been for a plug wire problem during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race in July, Reutimann may have also had a respectable finish in his No. 00 BURGER KING® Toyota Camry.
"We thought we dropped a cylinder, but we had a plug wire fall off and we lost a bunch of laps in the pits trying to put it back on," said Reutimann, who finished 38th. "The car ran good up until that point, but ultimately the plug wire was the reason we didn't finish well there."
Before heading to New Hampshire, the No. 00 BURGER KING® Toyota Camry is participating in a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series test at Talladega Superspeedway today and tomorrow in preparation for the track's October 7th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event. This will be the first restrictor-plate race for the Car of Tomorrow (COT) and it marks the 14th of 16 scheduled COT events.
"This is a big test for all of us and there are a lot of cars here," Reutimann said. "We were only able to turn a few laps this morning because there are so many cars, but we've been looking forward to this afternoon since we're drafting. I'm sure when we come back to Talladega in October the racing will have the same tight packs of cars and the race will be just as exciting with the Car of Tomorrow."
