NOTES:
* This Week's Race Car at New Hampshire International Speedway (chassis No. 92) was last run at Richmond International Raceway last weekend where Burton was running in the top-10 all night before getting caught a lap down during green flag pit stops and finishing 23rd. Other races this season include New Hampshire (7/04), Dover (6/04) and California (5/04).
* First at Loudon ... Burton made his first NASCAR Nextel Cup Series start at New Hampshire International Speedway on July 11, 1993. He was driving the No. 0 TIG Financial Ford for Phil Martocci.
* Leader of the Pack ... After starting second, Burton led all the laps and won the July 2000 race at NHIS, marking the last driver to accomplish that feat in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. His Nextel Cup Series stats include four wins, seven top-five and eight top-10 finishes.
* Catch the action ... the Sylvania 300 NASCAR Cup race will broadcast live at 1 p.m. EDT Saturday, September 19, on TNT, MRN and XM Radio. Qualifying for the Sylvania 300 will be broadcast live at 3 p.m. EDT Friday, September 17, on TNT, MRN and XM Radio.
JEFF BURTON:
On why he is successful at NHIS -- "I'm not sure why, to tell you the truth. I like the track. It's a fun place to race. Honestly, there are a lot of nice people in that area. For some reason, I'm real comfortable there and that was from the first time I ran there in the Busch cars. Loudon just kind of seems to fit me."
On leading every lap on his way to victory in 2000 and could it happen on today's circuit -- "It's going to be real hard for that to happen again, unless we have a race that is all green flag laps. I still don't understand why somebody didn't stay out and lead a lap under caution that day. Normally you'll have the guy running 25th stay out and lead a lap under caution. Why they didn't do that, I don't know. Everything went our way that weekend. We qualified second and passed Bobby Labonte on the first lap, then had great pit stops and the car ran well all day. It was just one of those days where everything went right, almost perfect. You don't get many days like that so it was real special and pretty historic."
Why Loudon for your first Cup start? -- "Loudon was my first Cup start because it was the first Cup race ever run at Loudon. We had been running the Busch Series up there so we had some experience at a place were the Cup drivers didn't, so we were trying to take advantage of it. I was driving for Phil Martocci, Gil Martin was my crew chief and it was just a natural fit. We had an association with Roush, so we rented a car from them. It was just the right time for us, we were running pretty well in the Busch Series, we thought we could capitalize on some experience we had at Loudon."
