Schrader's Thoughts On New Hampshire...
"I have never really been a big fan of the track at New Hampshire, but it seems to be a place where we have done fairly well. Qualifying has really been a strong point for us at Loudon. Although the "M&M's"® Racing Team didn't qualify as well as we had hoped in July, we had a pretty good car and a game plan for the race. If the caution flag would have waved when we needed it to, the outcome for us probably would have been better. We're hoping to put the whole package together for the "M&M's"® car this weekend."
"M&M's"® Racing Highlights at New Hampshire...
* Ken Schrader could be considered quite a threat when it comes to qualifying at the one-mile flat track. The 18-year veteran has 23 pole positions to his credit in Winston Cup competition. Two of those poles came at New Hampshire (both in 1997), and he has started outside of the top 10 only three times in his 15 starts. In July, the "M&M's"® Racing Team qualified 20th, and Schrader is hoping to improve on that effort.
"That was one of the first times I hadn't started in the top 10 at New Hampshire, so it was kind of disappointing for me," Schrader said. "We had made a lot of changes to the car, and the changes didn't help us in qualifying. I think the "M&M's"® car will be pretty tough in qualifying this time around."
* New England in September hasn't always meant Winston Cup racing for one "M&M's"® Racing Team member. Jack man Tim Goad spent seven years as a defensive lineman for the New England Patriots in the early years of his 10-year NFL career. Goad played 105 consecutive games with the Patriots before being sidelined with a broken leg in 1994.
As Goad performs his duties in the pits on Sunday, the Patriots will be doing battle with AFL rival, the New York Jets. Goad's pick for the win on Sunday - New England, of course.
* In honor of the one year anniversary of the September 11th tragedy and in remembrance of those who gave their lives, the "M&M's"® Pontiac will carry the American flag on the deck lid of the No. 36 car in Loudon this weekend. The American flag will also be prominently displayed on the car in Dover.
* In preparation for the final restrictor plate race of the season, the "M&M's"® Racing Team tested at Talladega Superspeedway on Sept. 10th and 11th of this week.
