Kurt Busch (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Avenger) Starting 2nd
"We had some anxious moments out on the grid. We ended up making our lap around 4:40. That was due to major changes we were making on the car, primarily for safety. I couldn't get my car slowed down going into the corners. I was vibrating real bad and it was shooting me straight up the race track and locking up the left front tire. We changed quite a bit on the car and it looked like the tech line was as congested as ever. So I was out there for about an hour and a half watching race cars. Times that put you at ease and I guess in this case it helped us to be able to bump up from about 20th up to second. The car turned real good, it stuck good. I didn't know we were pole material. Sometimes being naïve is bliss."
GIVEN TOYOTA'S STRUGGLES YOUR THOUGHTS ON THEIR FIRST POLE
"It's great to see them making progress. Like Juan said their group is heading in a positive direction with running better each week. It seems like Brian Vickers is the one holding the flag for Toyota. But to see a Bill Davis car and Dave Blaney sit on the pole today, it's refreshing. It's also exciting to see another auto manufacturer starting to have success. Now they have 300 miles where they have to get their cars to work on Sunday. But congratulations to Dave Blaney, Bill Davis. It's hard earned but it feels good to be recognized for all the hard work they've committed themselves to, to building a car from the ground up and to see success like this just before half way. I think it makes them feel good about what they're doing."
