Goody's Comes to Hood of Petty Dodge
Goody's Celebrates with Petty Enterprises at Martinsville

This weekend the #43 Petty Enterprises Dodge goes back to a familiar look of old. Goody's Headache Powders will adorn a Petty Blue hood and sides of the car driven by 2000 champion Bobby Labonte owned by the legendary Richard Petty. Goody's is celebrating its 30th year as a sponsor of Petty.

The #43 Goody's Headache Powder Dodge will compete this weekend at the .526-mile Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. It's the last short track race of the season and one that Petty Enterprises always looks forward to. The organization has a record 19 wins at Martinsville. They have also cumulated a total of 75 top-10 and 53 top-five finishes. Labonte has 29 career starts at the track and was a winner in 2002. He has 13 top-10 and six top-five finishes at the flat, paperclip-shaped oval.

Comments from Labonte as he prepares for this weekend's Subway 500:

"You don't think about Petty Enterprises without thinking about Martinsville and Richard Petty. You don't think about Richard Petty without thinking about a 43 Petty Blue Dodge winning a lot of races. That's what is pretty cool about this weekend. Goody's has brought back that Petty Blue to the car. I think a lot of fans in Martinsville remember that color sitting in victory lane at the end of the day. Richard won a lot of races in his career, but he really knew how to win at Martinsville. We've already got people excited before we take the first lap.

"And, really, I think we made some people pretty excited in Charlotte last weekend. We had a car that qualified up front and raced up front all night. Obviously we had some things that kept us from getting a top-10 finish, but it was probably one of the best cars we've had at a mile-and-a-half track all year. It gives the team a lot of confidence for Texas, Atlanta and Homestead. We're not done with those tracks yet.

"First, we're looking forward to Martinsville. We didn't make many laps in the spring race, but we had a third place run last year. We're under different circumstances this year running the new car, but we've had some good runs with it. It seems like the guys have been on top of that program all year. There is a lot of optimism heading to Martinsville.

"You look to end the season strong and sometimes that means having good cars every week. That's where our strength has really been the last two weeks. Maybe we didn't get a top-10, but we had a strong car. Talladega was our best plate car, Lowe's was a good intermediate car and now we're back at a short track. If you can put good cars on the track good things are going to happen. The team has put strong stuff on the track and we're eventually going to turn that into better finishes.

"Then you come to a track that everyone likes. You look at what Petty Enterprises has done at this place. You think about the heritage they have here and there isn't a better place to knock out a great finish. That's what we're looking forward too. We're gaining confidence with putting together good weekends. It's getting better. I hope we continue this weekend."
