Matt Kenseth's thoughts on Phoenix:
You qualified well last year at Phoenix. Do you foresee the same type of
results this year?
"Well, last year we qualified really well. Unfortunately, we had a good
car and got caught up in a wreck early and could not get the car fixed to
where it was safe to get back out on the track. We plan on taking the
same setup back and hopefully the result will be better than the last
time."
Does the track at Phoenix remind you of any other tracks?
"PIR reminds me of some tracks I used to run in Wisconsin. It's pretty
flat and even though I've only run there a few times, I'm hoping to get
more experience and get a good finish."
You are participating in a study for Gatorade before Phoenix. What can
you share about that?
"Well, it's a pretty cool deal. I will be going through tests that Mia
Hamm and Derek Jeter have done for Gatorade. It's awesome to be
affiliated with Gatorade, because of how serious they are about
hydration. I will have to ride a bike or a treadmill for an hour and see
how drinking Gatorade will help me stay hydrated. I'm eager to see the
results."
Crew Chief Robbie Reiser's thoughts on racing at Phoenix:
"We have five races to go and are within striking distance of at least
11th in points. With the Talladega finish, we are in position to move up
into 13th. The key has to be consistency. We finished 14th last year, so
our goal for the rest of the year is to keep that car up there in the top
10. We are going to go into Phoenix with that mindset, and finish what we
started."
Spotter Mike Calinoffâ^À^Ùs thoughts on Phoenix:
"The toughest part of spotting at Phoenix is that the spotters stand is
in turns one and two. It creates a parallax view, which makes it
difficult to clear the cars on the front and backstretch."
