"The race at Michigan is always a very competitive race, and I don't see that really changing this time around. It is one of the places where you one necessarily run side-by-side through the corners, but you may have a guy running the top groove and another guy that running the bottom through the turns and the air won't necessarily affect them that much. They can be side-by-side with a lot of room in between them, but then get really side-by-side down the straightaway. It's just a fantastic track for real competitive racing."

Team UPS Looks for Luck at Michigan
DJ Looks for Good Karma at Michigan . . . When it rains, it pours and the #88 UPS Racing Team is learning the truth to that adage. The outcome of the last two Winston Cup races has Dale Jarrett and the team looking forward to Michigan International Speedway more than ever. With four wins, and 18 top-10 finishes, Michigan is the track Jarrett typically refers to as his favorite.
"When fans ask what my favorite track is I always say Michigan", Jarrett said. "That is where I got my first win, but it's more than that. Michigan is a real wide track with multiple racing grooves and there is plenty room for passing. That really suits my driving style and Robert Yates Racing because of the long straights that require a lot of horsepower. Michigan requires a combination of horsepower and aerodynamics. It's a place where you can compete for the win whether you start first or 43rd if you have a good handling race car."
"I've had a rough couple weeks with the engine in Dover and the cut tire that put us out of the race last week at Pocono", Jarrett continued. " I'd definitely say we are looking forward to getting back to Michigan -- a place where we've won before and know how to prepare a car well for."
Since the #88 UPS team was established in 1996, Jarrett has only two finishes at Michigan that are outside of the top 10, and he has no DNFs at Michigan behind the wheel of the #88 Fords.
As the driver of the #88 Robert Yates Racing team, Jarrett has led at least one lap in 10 of the last 14 Winston Cup races at Michigan for a total of 277 laps. Jarrett's total laps led at Michigan is 329 laps.
