The No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo was fast out of the box on Friday. Placing 11th in the first practice and qualifying in a respectable 18th position.
Happy Hour took place before the Busch Grand National race on Saturday. Once again, the practice showed a hot rod Chevy. End results of Happy Hour had the Morgan-McClure Motorsports team in the third spot.
Lepage battled a car that ran hot the entire race. He could not get into dirty air or the temperature would rise. The car fell out of the race with 30 laps to go. The engine finally succumbed to overheating.
It was discovered Monday morning at the race shop while inspecting the No. 4 Chevrolet that the entire duct work for the radiator had been hit and was flattened against the radiator. This created a flat piece of aluminum that prevented air from circulating into the engine during the race.
In the 2000 California Speedway race, next stop on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit, Lepage stats are: Started 40th/Finished 22nd
Lepage has competed in Winston Cup three times at California Speedway. His best start is 13th on 5/3/98. His best finish there is 18th once on 5/2/99.
