TRG Motorsports Looking To Add Some Insurance in AAA 400
Mooresville, N.C. (9/30/11) - The No. 71 Interstate Moving Services team heads to Dover, DE this weekend for the running of the AAA 400. The race will mark the second and final trip of the 2011 season to the track known as the Monster Mile.
Driver Andy Lally, who is closing in on claiming NASCAR's Rookie of the Year Honors, will look to improve upon his 33rd place finish at Dover earlier this year. The eight remaining races are of immense importance to the No. 71 team as it tries to finish in the top-35 of NASCAR's Owner's Point Standings for the second consecutive year. Currently sitting in the 35th position, the team will look to add to the thirty-eight point margin it holds over its next closest competitor.
Team owner Kevin Buckler remarked upon the significance of the upcoming weekend and being a part of the top-35.
"We came to the Sprint Cup Series two years ago with a mission to succeed. There were a lot of people that probably wrote us off and thought we should go home and never come back when we missed the Daytona 500 in 2009. Here we are two years later, looking to solidify a finish in the exclusive top-35 for the second straight year. I'm proud of how much we've been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. Dover is a very unique track, but one I believe Andy can do well at. We've had more than our share of bad luck over the past month and are looking to build some momentum heading into next year. The most frustrating thing about the last few races is that we have had fast cars. We need to continue to focus on controlling what we can control and doing our best to manage what we can't. We will look to build on our point’s position again this weekend."
Crew Chief Doug Richert has one career win and eleven career top-10 finishes to his name at Dover.
"Dover is a unique track. It has high banking, short straights and is a concrete surface. The combination of those three factors makes it unique from anywhere else we go to on the schedule. A good finish this weekend would be a huge boost for this team. Our guys are working hard and building fast cars, while Andy is improving every weekend. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find any luck recently. The silver lining in our recent performances is that the things that have hurt us have been things out of our control. We will look to unload this weekend with a fast car, ready to take on the Monster Mile."
Andy Lally is looking forward to returning to the Monster Mile this weekend as well.
"Our program has made a great deal of progress since our last trip to Dover. We're looking to pick things up once again and stay headed in the right direction. My job right now is to keep getting better every week so that I can conclude my rookie season on a positive note and help this team finish in the top-35 for the second straight year."
