NASCAR has joined forces with American Medical Response (AMR) to strengthen its medical support system and improve on-track services.

As part of the new alliance, AMR will provide the on-track safety team with an additional doctor and paramedic at every Monster Energy Cup event throughout the season. During competition, a state-licensed doctor and paramedic will be on call in chase vehicles — accompanied by two NASCAR Track Services team members — to provide immediate response in case of an accident.

“This partnership further strengthens NASCAR’s medical response capability, making our well-established, medical response system even better,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer. “AMR is a leader in the emergency services sector, and its doctors and paramedics add another layer of expertise to the immediate response team.”

Local emergency room physicians and personnel will continue to interface with neighboring medical facilities from each of the Infield Care Centers on the circuit. The AMR team will coordinate with the local medical staff to provide the most thorough health care for the competitors.

“We’re excited about this partnership with NASCAR,” said Edward Van Horne, president and chief executive officer, AMR. “We’re going to work collaboratively with NASCAR and local teams to share best EMS practices and ensure the highest quality of care.”

AMR becomes the Official Emergency Medical Services Partner of NASCAR. AMR is a subsidiary of Envision Healthcare. AMR has provided emergency medical support at select NASCAR races prior its enhanced collaboration. AMR will also assign a national medical director for the AMR Safety Team to coordinate the program and interact with NASCAR Medical Liaisons and Consulting Physicians.
