No. 38 Pit Crew wins Chicagoland

Chicago Win Gives Sadler's Pit Crew Third Victory in Last Four Races

The pit crew for Elliott Sadler claimed the McDonald's Drive-Thru Pit Championship fueled by POWERade in Sunday's (July 11) Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.

It was the third time in the last four races that Sadler's No. 38 crew collected the first-place $20,000 prize. The other wins were in Michigan and Sonoma.

At the halfway point of the 36-race schedule, Sadler's pit crew remains a top contender for the McDonald's/POWERade season championship and the $200,000 bonus. The No. 38 crew is in second place, only nine points behind series leader - the No 8 crew for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Sadler's M&M's Ford spent 190.811 seconds on pit road during the Tropicana 400. Tony Stewart's Home Depot Chevy was second with a time of 193.051. Third was Sterling Marlin's Coors Light Dodge at 212.097.

"My M&M's crew brings their "A" game every weekend to the track," said Sadler. "I cannot tell you how pumped up these guys are and how fast their stops are week in and week out. Track position is so important these days, and these guys know that. They are prepared, in great shape and have made it their mission to win the McDonald's/POWERade championship. We all win if they win the race off pit road every week. They are one of the reasons we have stayed in the top-10 in points for the entire season."

Sadler's over-the-wall crew consists of: Darryl Lockyer (front-tire changer), Kevin Hall (front-tire carrier), Dave Smith (rear-tire changer/car chief), Lance Hanna (rear-tire carrier), Rodney Fetters (jackman), Preston Cordell (gas man) and Jay Thompson (catch can). The team's crew chief is Todd Parrott.
