David Reutimann Finishes 21st in NEXTEL Open

Concord, NC -- David Reutimann, driver of the #00 Domino's Pizza/Burger King Toyota in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, finished 21st today in the NEXTEL Open -- the prelude race to the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.

Only the winning and second place driver's advance to the All-Star Challenge, meaning the intensity picked up immediately following the drop of the green flag. With a few quick cautions, David had worked his way up to 17th in the #00 Domino's Pizza/Burger King Toyota.

"The first segment I was just trying to ride around and feel the car out, but the caution flag kept coming out -- it seemed as if some drivers were going for the win on the first lap," said David.

Unfortunately, the start of the second segment brought misfortune to the #00 team, as the right rear Goodyear Eagle was punctured by debris on the track -- forcing David to pit under green, which took away any chance of the team advancing.

"We never really had a chance to prove anything with all the cautions -- then the tire went down and that took us out quick. On a good note, we tested well here in another #00 Toyota and look forward to next weekend's race," said Reutimann.
