Elliott Sadler and Pedigree® Team Grooming Up for Phoenix International Raceway
Elliott Sadler and the Pedigree® team travel west this weekend to the Phoenix International Raceway for the Checker Auto Parts 500. After the team's worst finish of the season last weekend in Atlanta, the #38 team finds themselves eighth in the point standings. Although the team continued to run last weekend in Atlanta, a pit road incident took the M&M'S team out of contention for a solid finish. Sadler has one top-10 finish at Phoenix but crew chief Todd Parrott made a trip to Victory Lane with Dale Jarrett in 1997.
QUOTING M&M'S® DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER: "We've run into a bad streak of luck over the past few weeks. I'm hoping we can turn it around this weekend in Phoenix with a strong run. I really feel like this team had a car good enough to win last weekend in Atlanta until we had a miscue on pit road with Joe Nemechek. I really feel like we're strong enough as a team to win another race before this season is over. We are going to test in Homestead and I absolutely love Darlington. We're going to make sure we dot our 'i's' and cross our 't's' and finish out this year with some strong runs."
QUOTING M&M'S® CREW CHIEF TODD PARROTT: "We are taking the car we won California with and ran at New Hampshire in September. The car ran well in Loudon, we led some laps with it and finished eighth. We are looking for a solid finish and to get the best points finish we can over the next few weeks."
QUOTING M&M'S® SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN: "Phoenix is different from any other track. We stand in between turns 1 and 2 so the cars are coming at us and going away from us all afternoon. That means depth perception can play a big part in clearing the drivers. It's only a 312- lap race so if we don't have a lot of cautions it usually doesn't last to long. It's cool to race in Phoenix and next year we will be out there twice so hopefully we can hit up on something this weekend that will help us when we go back in the early part of the season next year."
NOTES OF INTEREST:
PIT CREW--After Atlanta, the M&M'S Crew has a 12 point lead over the @20 team of Tony Stewart in the McDonald's Pit Crew Challenge. The team has won $140,000 so far this season and stands the chance to win $200,000 more with the title.
