Marlin's Goal is to Better Previous Phoenix Result
PHOENIX (Nov. 8, 2006)-- Sterling Marlin's aim for this weekend's Nextel Cup event at Phoenix International Raceway is to better then 2th-place finish he accomplished at the spring race on the one-mile oval.
"We had a good run at Phoenix in April," said Marlin. "That race started in the sun and ended under the lights and I remember having to chase the racetrack the whole time. But we stayed strong and brought home a pretty good finish. I think we can do even better this time around."
Marlin and his MB2 teammate Joe Nemechek will both be piloting a Principal Financial Group Chevrolet for MB2 Motorsports in the Checker Auto Parts 500.
With two races remaining on the Nextel Cup schedule, crew chief Richard "Slugger" Labbe is confident that the team will end the season on a high note.
"Sterling likes the smaller race tracks and we're taking a pretty speedy Principal Financial Group Chevrolet with us," said Labbe. "This No. 14 team had a good showing in the previous race at Phoenix. I'm confident that we'll be heading to the last race in Homestead with some momentum."
