NOTES:
Stat Facts ... In eight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Phoenix International Raceway, Scott Riggs has logged one top-15 finish. Last season, the Bahama, N.C., native finished 26th in the spring race and 38th in the fall. He owns an impressive 19.4 starting average coupled with a 29.5 finishing average. Meanwhile, Riggs has completed 88.2 percent of the laps attempted over those eight races and earned just over $500,000 in purse money.
Series Success ... In three NASCAR Nationwide Series stars at the 1-mile desert oval, Riggs has one top-10 finish. Additionally, in one NASCAR Camping World Series start at Phoenix, the 39-year-old driver has an eight-place finish to call a career best.
Points Position ... After seven races, Riggs and the No. 36 team are 40th in NASCAR Sprint Cup owners' point standings. They are 13 points behind the No. 28 team in 39th, 104 markers behind the No. 82 team in 38th and 200 points outside the top 35.
Sellars .... Sellars wipers have jumped on board as a product sponsor for TBR. Sellars is a leading manufacturer of shop towels, disposable wipers, and sorbents that are made with recycled fibers. This is the first weekend that the Sellers logo will adorn the No. 36 machine.
SCOTT RIGGS:
What does it take to get around Phoenix?
"Phoenix is a very flat track. You have to get your car handling well all the way around. You have to have good forward bite up off the corners because the asphalt is worn out. You also have to have forward bite so you can pass coming off the corners."
Does Phoenix fall into the same category as a short track like Martinsville or Richmond?
"I don't really consider Phoenix a short track. Even though places like Phoenix and New Hampshire are only a mile, they both have a lot of room to race. Phoenix is always a fun race track. There are always at least two lanes, and sometimes even more, to pass. I just hope we have learned something over the past couple of months and that we can show how good the No. 36 machine really is this weekend."
