Target Team Facts:

* Site of a first: Casey Mears earned his first career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup pole position at Pocono Raceway on July 30, 2004. Mears turned a lap time of 52.411 seconds around the track at an average speed of 171.720 mph. He went on to earn his second career pole the following week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

* Standings: Mears and the Target team moved up one spot in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup standings to 27th after their 24th-place finish at Dover International Speedway.

* Results in Pennsylvania: Mears has four NEXTEL Cup starts and two ARCA starts at Pocono Raceway. He finished 10th in the June NEXTEL Cup event last spring, and captured the pole in the fall race. He also visited victory lane twice in the two ARCA races he ran at the 2.5-mile track in 2003.

* Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target Team will be taking chassis #302 this weekend to Pocono Raceway. Mears drove this chassis at Martinsville in April to a career-best finish at the track of 17th.

Casey Mears Quote:

On the transmission rule... "I loved Pocono because we could shift," said Mears. "It was one of the things that made the track so unique and fun to me. Last year I shifted three times during my qualifying run when I won the pole, so I honestly don't know how the new rule will affect our set-up or the package that we bring to the track. It was fun to listen to the other drivers talk about where they shifted and how many times they did.

"Hopefully the racing will still be great, and the track is still one of the most unique on the circuit. I'm confident that the Target Dodge will still be quick. Pocono has always been one of my better tracks we race at. It will be one of those races where we will have to wait and see what we have when we get there."
