Valvoline Pontiac driver Johnny Benson suffered a DNF last week at Kansas,
which came in the form of an engine failure, but remained 10th in the
Winston Cup standings. Benson is looking to add to his career-best 11 top
10s this Sunday with the same chassis that he last ran here in the Coke 600.

Rookie Ron Hornaday missed the show last week at Kansas, but is optimistic
he can bounce back in a big way this week in Charlotte. Hornaday and his
team have prepared and tested a brand new chassis that will hopefully get
its first start on Sunday afternoon.

Interstate Batteries Pontiac driver Bobby Labonte - the defending champion
of this event -- is hoping to break a two-race run of bad luck this weekend
in the UAW/GM 500. Labonte, who is running the chassis he last raced at
Michigan in August, has seven top five finishes here in his last eight
starts.

Home Depot Grand Prix driver Tony Stewart continued his consistent late
season charge last weekend at Kansas, earning his fifth straight top 10
finish. Stewart, who solidly occupies the third spot in the Winston Cup
points, is driving the car he last appeared in at Michigan International
Speedway in August.

Ken Schrader - currently 21st in the Winston Cup standings -- comes to
Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend with the same chassis that was forced
into duty last week at Kansas after a practice crash sidelined his primary
car. Schrader, who is just 69 points out of the 16th position in the
points, had a solid run with the car at Kansas until a leaking oil line
forced him to pit road and cost him five laps.
