Pontiac Racing Darlington chassis notes

Valvoline Grand Prix driver Johnny Benson first ran this chassis at Rockingham three weeks ago and posted a sixth place finish. That run marked the first of three consecutive top 10 efforts that includes a fourth at Las Vegas and a seventh at Atlanta. It is Benson's best string of top 10s since he posted seven straight during the 1998 season.

Rookie Ron Hornaday is behind the wheel of a chassis that posted three top 15s during the 2000 season, including a 12th here at Darlington in the Southern 500 with driver Rick Mast.

Interstate Batteries Grand Prix driver Bobby Labonte posted a runner-up finish in this chassis three weeks ago at Rockingham in its first run of the year. Labonte gave Pontiac its second straight win here at Darlington last fall with a victory in the Southern 500.

Home Depot Pontiac driver Tony Stewart owns one top five finish in 2001, and he earned it with this chassis at Rockingham three weeks ago (4th). This piece also posted a seventh at "The Rock" during last fall's Winston Cup event there.

Kenny Wallace is running the No. 27 Pontiac chassis that competed at Homestead in November 2000 and finished 40th with driver Mike Bliss. Wallace is looking to better his top run of the year (25th at Daytona) this weekend at Darlington.
