Boris Said, driver of the No. 60 Sobe No Fear Ford Fusion, is once again planning on running a limited schedule in 2007. He was part of the first day of testing for February's Daytona 500 and spoke during the lunch break about his hopes in the season ahead.
BORIS SAID -- No. 60 Sobe No Fear Ford Fusion
WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR THIS YEAR?
"We're twice as far ahead from where we were last year because last year we didn't even have a sponsorship deal together until April. Now we have seven races for sure. We have three speedway cars in our building. We have a brand new downforce car ready to go and we have three car of tomorrow's on order with Roush, so everything seems like it's going along. I would like to win a Cup race this year, and I would like to make the Daytona 500. Those are my goals for the year and then, hopefully, we can talk Pepsi into doing more races."
SO THE TOTAL IS SEVEN RIGHT NOW?
"Yeah, but we're set up to add more if sponsorship comes along."
HAS IT BEEN FRUSTRATING BECAUSE YOU WERE TOUTING 'BUY MORE CASES, RUN MORE RACES.'
"And people bought cases. At the end of the year it looked like they might cancel the program and then all of their reports came in and they're back in with more races, so I think they're really getting behind it and using the bottlers and retailers. We're showing them that we're selling more product, so I hope it will keep building."
SO DOES THIS RACE TAKE ON EVEN MORE IMPORTANCE FOR YOU IN THAT RESPECT?
"Yeah, all of them. This year it's gonna be so hard to make these races. Down here there will probably be 30 people going for eight spots and it's gonna be tough -- really seven spots because Dale Jarrett will be here -- so it's gonna be a nerve-wracking week for sure."
SO YOU JUST STAY WITH WHAT WORKED LAST YEAR.
"Yeah, we're working closely with Roush and trying to build the most competitive cars we can. For a part-time team, the results we got last year for our first time were, I think, pleased beyond belief with it so we have a hard act to follow this year, but we're cautiously optimistic."
