R. Gordon Charlotte happy hour notes

Qualifying position - 25th

Saturday wrapped up all practicing for Sunday's UAW GM 500, which will start at 1pm eastern time from the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Temperatures are expected to be in the 50's for race time which would be similar to those temperatures run in today's morning practice. Robby Gordon was 22nd quickest in the morning session driving his Wolf Man-clad Menards Ford Taurus. But in the afternoon session, track conditions turned Gordon into a monster as he became frustrated with a lack of grip. The grip issue was partly believed to be a result of the rubber from the Busch race run immediately before happy hour which was a different compound than that of the Winston Cup cars. Hotter track temperatures also believed to be a culprit.

ROBBY GORDON "We have a few things to sort out before the race, happy hour didn't go as well as I would've liked. There just wasn't a whole lot of grip out there. Tomorrow it's going to be very important to watch the weather and be able to react. It's supposed to be cold, which will be good for us. This afternoon with the heat and the track temperatures so high, we went loose. This morning when the track was cool we were fast and the car was neutral. Hopefully the weatherman will cooperate and give us a nice chilly October day tomorrow."
