BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO: (2nd)

IT LOOKED LIKE FULL CONTACT RACING OUT THERE...

"I clobbered the wall one time by myself. That was full contact with just me. But, the rest of the time wasn't too bad. I saw some contact in front of me sometimes. But, the groove on the bottom was really loose tonight and the groove in the middle of the racetrack was really good. You didn't want to get too high because it was like 'no man's land.' You could go low, but you might not be able to complete the pass, so a lot of guys were trying that. Everybody runs about the same speed anymore. It's just so close. You've got to wait for a guy. If he bobbles a little bit you can take advantage of it."

ON THREE SECOND PLACE FINISHES IN A ROW

"Three first places would be better, but three second places is the next best thing. Michael (McSwain) has done a great job. We communicate really good. The guys have done a great job in the pits. The motors are really good, and the guys back at the shop. Things are going really good right now. Obviously, three second place finishes are really good for us. We've got a lot of confidence on our side. We're actually getting to the racetrack and knowing what to do, so it's pretty cool."

COULD YOU HAVE DONE ANYTHING WITH NEMECHEK IN THE FINAL SEVEN LAPS?

"No, not unless he slipped - unless something happened and he slipped up the racetrack or something like that, which, it didn't look like he did it much tonight. My car was a little bit tight and his car looked a little bit better than mine."

ARE YOU OPTIMISTIC FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR?

"We've run good. We've got a great race team. I think we can run competitively week in and week out. If we're not good at some point in time in the race it seems like we can get better. We've gotten caught up in a few wrecks and if we could get those back, that's great. But, you can't, so we've just got to concentrate on what we're doing right now and make sure that we build on it and make sure we build on consistency and get that back. That's what we know we want to be at. We know that's what it takes to beat guys like Junior and Matt and some other guys up there that are consistent week in and week out, so we have to do that, too."
